Freeport, Illinois – Prince of Peace Lutheran Church invites the community to join them for “Kite Day” on May 20, 2018 at 9 am. Sunday, May 20 on the church calendar is Pentecost. Pentecost is an annual church festival that celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit to the disciples after Jesus’ ascension to heaven. In the Pentecost story in the Bible (found in the book of Acts) we hear that “there was the sound of a mighty rushing wind” as the Holy Spirit came to the disciples.
To honor the gift of the Holy Spirit descending from heaven ‘like a mighty wind’ we’re flying kites! We’d like many of our members & friends to participate – let’s fill the sky with kites! We’ll head outside after our first worship service at 8 am. We invite you to worship with us as well!
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is located on the corner of Stephenson St and Park Crest Dr, across from Liberty Village. We worship every Sunday at 8 & 10:30 am. Our Summer worship schedule (one service at 9 am) starts Memorial Day Weekend (May 27) and ends Labor Day Weekend. Contact us at 815.232.4911 or visit us at www.princeofpeacefreeport.com.
