League of Women Voters To Hold Annual Meeting and Luncheon

Freeport, Illinois — The League of Women Voters of Freeport will hold their annual meeting and luncheon on Saturday, April 14 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Freeport Public Library. The business meeting will begin at 11:00, followed by luncheon at noon and keynote speaker Michael Schiffman, Freeport School District Superintendent, at 1:00 p.m. Schiffmann will provide an update on the school district curriculum and outline plans for the future success of Freeport School District 145.

Catering is being provided by 9 East and the menu includes an egg bake, mixed green salad, assorted pies, and coffee.

Tickets are only $17 each and reservations must be received on or before Monday, April 9. Make checks payable to the League of Women Voters of Freeport. Questions may be referred to Carole Dickerson at 815-275-4968.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The national League was founded in Chicago in 1920 just six months before the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which allowed women to vote.
