FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — Logan’s, a restaurant and event venue in Freeport has been a live music staple in the community for years but a renewed focus on independent country music has the bar selling out concerts. Logan’s has numerous shows booked for 2019 with plans on adding more. If red dirt is your style and seeing your favorite artists up close and personal is your thing, get tickets now and mark your calendars for the shows ahead.

Cody Canada & The Departed


Cody Canada & The Departed is a three-piece Americana roots-rock band based in New Braunfels, Texas.  Rolling Stone called Cody Canada, a poster child of the Red Dirt scene about the man who has been playing guitar and dreaming music since he was 8 years old. The former frontman for the popular Red Dirt rockin’ country band Cross Canadian Ragweed keeps on putting out music from the studio and the road. Now, working as a stripped-down power trio with longtime bassist Jeremy Plato and drummer Eric Hansen.

Josh Morningstar With Craig Gerdes


Singer-songwriter Josh Morningstar has been criss-crossing the country paying his dues one gig at a time. For his own music, Morningstar already has a loyal fanbase who call themselves “The Crazies,” taking the name from his last album, “Whole Lotta Crazy.”  Off the road, Josh Morningstar has a constant writing schedule in Nashville. But really, you want to know is Josh Morningstar the reason ASCAP and BMI installed metal detectors? Neither confirm or deny. They do keep him coming back, though.

Josh Morningstar will be coming to Logan’s on Friday March 8th! Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Craig Gerdes will perform at 7:30 p.m. and Josh Morningstar will go on at 9 p.m. Tickets will be $10 each. We will only be selling 80 tickets. There will be tables and chairs for each guest at this event. This gives you the chance to eat before the show starts if you wish!

Porter Union


Porter Union, led by husband and wife, Cole Michael Porter and Kendra Porter, is the result of the two old souls spending the better part of the last decade traveling the country together to play their music everywhere from the dive bars and honky tonks to festivals and theaters. When you hear the story of Cole and Kendra meeting in a hometown bar, falling in love while writing and playing together, it sounds like fairy tale built by corporate music row.

Porter Union will be at Logan’s. Tickets are will call and $15 in advance. We are only selling 200 tickets. Tyler Giles will be opening up the night at 7:30 p.m. Porter Union will begin at 8:30 p.m.

Billy Don Burns


Billy Don Burns has played in thousands of honky-tonks across the globe for 45 years. The likes of Willie Nelson, Connie Smith, and Mel Tillis, among hundreds of others, have recorded his songs. Songwriting giant Harlan Howard signed him to a publishing contract when he’d just arrived in Nashville at 23. Johnny Cash even penned him a congratulatory note when Burns’ album overtook the Man in Black’s for #1 on the Americana charts.

Billy Don Burns will be at Logan’s for an early evening show. This will be a bit different from our typical shows. Only 80 seats available (instead of the typical 200 for this show). This will give you and your guests a better experience. You will be able to enjoy a nice dinner and drinks while listening to an amazing musician. Doors will open as early as 5pm. The show will not begin until 7pm.

Sunny Sweeney

Texas born country music recording artist Sunny Sweeney is making a stop in Freeport for a one night only show at Logan’s as part of her 2019 tour. Sweeney, who was nominated in the Top New Female Artist category at 2013’s Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, has released such hits as “From a Table Away” which hit the #10 spot on the U.S. Country chart and the #58 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and has made over 50 appearances at the Grand Ole Opry. Sweeny is one of the opening acts for Miranda Lambert’s Livin’ Like Hippies Tour this year.
