10. German Valley Historical Society Museum: “Small Rapids Woman” Program

The German Valley Historical Society Museum hosts Pat McClellan, retired teacher and author of children’s books, who will present a program about Native Americans, specifically the Chippewa Tribe. There will be artifacts on display and a special treat will be the serving of Indian Fry Bread. The museum will be open for touring. Free, although donations are appreciated.

9. Pink Heals Awareness Motorcycle Ride

Honor guard and blessing of the bikes at 9:00am. Kickstands up at 9:30am. Route will consist of stagecoach trail, toward Galena, Blackjack road, Savannah, then back to Freeport by 2:30pm. There will be stops along the way. COST $35 1 or 2 riders. Early bird sign up (by June 9th will receive a free t-shirt) *** can sign up day of ride and purchase t-shirts, but t-shirts will be limited

8. Tour for Cancer

Enjoy this bicycle tour of Northwest Illinois to benefit the FHN Ferguson Cancer Center. Choose from 105, 75, and 30 mile routes. Maps are provided and roads are clearly marked. In lieu of a registration fee, donations to the FHN Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center are gratefully accepted.

7. Cheese and Cheers Tour 2017 Expo

The public is invited to the Cheese and Cheers Tour 2017 Expo featuring displays and information from local craft breweries, winery and cheese shops. It includes information about the Cheese and Cheers Tour for 2017. This year’s tour is available through October 31, 2017. Participants can, at their leisure, visit each of the businesses on the tour. Pick up a passport for the tour at the Visitors Center or at any of the businesses. Each location will have a customized Cheese and Cheers reward that can be earned by visiting all six locations by October 31. Once the passport is fully stamped, turn it in at the business of your choice to claim your reward (only one prize at one business per passport). Participating Cheese and Cheers Tour businesses are The Cheese Market, Freeport; Famous Fossil Vineyard and Winery, Freeport; Generations Brewing Company, Freeport; Lena Brewing Company, Lena; Megz Country Cheese, Davis, and Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery, Lena. The Stephenson County Farm Bureau and the Freeport/Stephenson County Visitors Bureau are co-sponsors of the Tour and Expo.

6. Music Under the Stars

The Freeport Concert Band performs in this free concert featuring a variety of music covering different genres and composers. Each performance is hosted by a different guest conductor and will highlight an assortment of guest instrumentalists and vocalists.

5. Pink Heals Freeport 2017

The event will begin with the Pink Heals Freeport 3rd Annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride and Event with registration at 8, an honor guard from NJROTC at 9 am, announcements at 9:15 am, blessings of the bikes by the Servants of the Shield at 9:30 am, and kickstands up at 9:30 am. Then from 2 pm to 4 pm there will be music, vendors, awareness booths, local fire department and sheriff department vehicles, therapy dogs, face painting, fire hose for the kids, pink vehicles and more.

4. Stephenson County Ag Breakfast

A farm breakfast showcasing Stephenson County agriculture producers with a menu of scrambled eggs, whole hog sausage, beef bacon, cheese, coffee cake, ice cream, milk, and coffee. Additional activities include numerous displays, farm animals, farm equipment displays, kids’ activities, a silent auction, kiddie pedal pull and more as we salute and share the story of Stephenson County agriculture. Adults: $5; Children 5 and Under: Free.
