10. Pokémon Go! At Krape Park, Freeport

Sunday at 6 PM – 9:30 PM –  The main event will take place at Krape Park near the dragon statue. Throughout the event various people will be dropping lures on the nearby poké stops and throughout the park. This is a family friendly event so children are welcome. And we ask that you come either supporting the colors of your team or wearing any Pokemon related clothing if you have any, although it is not necessary.

9. Soul Food Sunday

Sunday at 2 PM – 5 PM – Why cook? Take a seat and get off of your feet for a home cooked meal!! Come on out and eat with Rock Hollow. Great atmosphere to eat in with soft Jazz music playing while you eat. Video gaming available. This months menu (ALWAYS the second Sunday of the month!) Fried Chicken or Fish, Spaghetti, Cole Slaw, Green Beans, Cake and Bread. Cost per plate: $9.50

8. Movies in the Park Krape Park

Friday 7:00 pm – Join the Freeport Park District and FHN for this annual series. Prior to the movie there will be activities and entertainment. NOTE: We’ve just been notified the FHN and Freeport Park District Movie in the Park has been cancelled for August 12th and rescheduled for September 4th.

8. Paint & Pour with Mia

Friday at 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM – Come enjoy a paint and pour at Hilldale Dairy & Deli which will be a Peacock. Cost is $30 and includes your food and supplies to complete the canvas. To register for this class private message Hilldale Dairy with your name and contact number. You will also need to prepay for the event to ensure your space is reserved. Class is limited to 20 people! Please bring your beverage of choice (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to sip on while we paint and have a fantastic evening! Looking for something fun to do tonight? 7. A Sunday Brews Cruise

Sunday at 10 AM – 5 PM – A self supported 60 mile or so road ride with some gravel road sections. We’ll provide maps on the day of the ride. It will be self supported and ride at your own pace. Optional stops wil be at Lena Brewing Company, the world famous Slurp and Burp, and of course Generations Brewing Company.

Friday at 9 PM – Presenting their 6th Take the Stage the new band Big Muff, the revamped band Karma & Effect and the newer band Valve will be on stage to perform. Great originals and some covers, from Hard Rock to alternative Metal and some hard hitting Black Sabbath and More.

Saturday at 9 AM – 6 PM- Come and join us for the 1st Annual Garage Sale Extravaganza at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds. Proceeds benefit the Stephenson Nursing Center memory care program. 4. Stephenson County Farmers Market Customer Appreciation Day

Saturday at 8 AM – 12:30 PM –  Come out and enjoy the Stephenson County Farmers Market’s annual customer appreciation day with free hot dogs, lemonade, corn boil, and more.

3. 14th Annual Lincoln Douglas 5K and Fun Run

Saturday 8 am – 10 am – A series of short distances for children begins at 8 am:  ages 8 and under – 100 yards; 9 to 10 – 200 yards; 11 to 12 – 400 yards. All finishers receive ribbons. The boy and girl winners of each age group will run a 100-yard dash following the 5K to determine “THE FASTEST KID IN TOWN!”. A One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:15 am. The course consists of one loop around the historic paved road inside Taylor Park. This is an untimed run and all finishers receive ribbons. The 5K begins at 8:35 am. The course consists of three loops around the paved road inside Taylor Park, a 5K (3.1 miles), wheel-measured certified course that is flat and fast designed to help runners achieve a personal best. 5K: Adults: Prior to August 8: $25; After August 8: $35; Children Under 18: $15; Rockford Road Runner (early only): $23; Rockford Wildcats (early only) $13. Mile Fun Run: Prior to August 8: $10; After August 8: $12; Rockford Road Runner and Rockford Wildcats (early only): $8. Kids Races: $2.

2. Winslow River & Anitique Days

August 13 – August 14 8:30 PM to Aug 14 at 12:30 PM – Come out and enjoy this annual Town Festival Located at the Township Park in Winslow, IL, held the second full weekend in August. See antique tractors and engines on display. Enjoy an ice cream social with homemade ice cream, shop at the flea market, have breakfast served from a military field kitchen, and enjoy entertainment

Car show, Pony rides for the kidos. $3.00 a ride. New this year the First Annual Riverdays Catfish Tournament sponsored by the Winslow Fire Department. Registration Saturday 6am at Brewsters Landing.  Kickstand Band to perform

1. Freeport Cruise Night 2016

Saturday 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Come see over 1,000 cars cruising through downtown Freeport in an evening of old-fashioned fun. Upwards of 1000 show vehicles and something over 10,000 spectators gather in downtown Freeport, Illinois to marvel, reminisce and talk classic cars and hot rods. Great food, live music and a night to remember,

    I grew up in Freeport…went to Center grade school…then Freeport Junior and Senior High.
    I come from a family of 5…Rolland and Audrey Johnson being Mom and Dad. Great memories of a Micro Switch and a solid upbringing.
