United Sportsmen’s Youth Foundation Fishing Tournament & River Clean Scavenger Hunt

Freeport, Illinois — July 21, 2017 — In conjunction with the United Sportsmen’s Youth Foundation River Clean event, the youth foundation will be hosting a fishing tournament for young and old alike.  The fishing tournament begins Friday, July 28, at 5:00 pm and continues until Saturday, July 29, at 7:00 pm.  The competition will take place on the Pecatonica River.  Entry fee is $100 per two person team.  Cash and prizes will be awarded in four categories.  Kids accompanied by adults are encouraged.  Call 815-599-5690 for more information and to sign up for the event.

During River Clean, the youth foundation is planning a scavenger hunt with prizes planted throughout the area targeted for river clean.  Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes will be hidden on garbage in the river.  Come and join in on the fun.  River Clean will be Sunday, July 30, with sign-in beginning at 8:00 am at Rock Hollow Conservation Club, 1931 Route 75 East, Freeport.  This event is fun for the whole family, service organizations, and is also a great way for students to achieve their community service participation goals.

Through River Clean efforts, participants have made a positive impact on the natural beauty of the Pecatonica River as well as the wildlife which depends on the river to survive.  People of all ages and backgrounds from throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin participate each year united in one goal.  This is a far reaching endeavor as “we all live downstream!”
