FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — Honeywell plant 4 in Freeport is about to get a boost of new faces working at its factory sometime over the next year. The news comes as Honeywell announced it has decided to consolidate work from their Galena and Bolingbrook plants.
Eric Krantz, a Honeywell spokesman, told us the Galena and Bolingbrook facilities will close, likely toward the end of 2019. The Galena site manufactures limit switches, and the Bolingbrook site manufactures personal protective equipment for electrical safety.
“Most of the work will transition to our Freeport, Illinois, facility, creating about 125 new jobs there”, Krantz told us. He says eligible affected employees can apply for other open positions within Honeywell or will be offered severance.
Honeywell says they expect the complete transition to take place by the end of 2019.
