FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The Freeport Art Museum is pleased to announce the Aspiring Artists Exhibition, which features over 450 works of art created by area students. Opening on Friday February 28 and running through April 2, the exhibition showcases the talent and creativity from grades K – 12 of regional elementary, middle, and high schools. On Friday February 28, the reception will be held from 5 to 7 pm with K – 4 awards at 5:45 pm and 5 – 12 awards at 6:30 pm.
“The Aspiring Artists exhibition demonstrates the wonderful talent and creativity of the students in our communities and the high level of arts instruction they receive from their art educators. It’s a favorite of the community every year.” – Education and Exhibition Director, Barry Treu.
This year’s guest jurors are three incredible educators from Highland Community College: Robert Apolloni Instructor of Art & Gallery Director; Loretta Swanson, Instructor of Art & Art History; Sam Tucibat, Instructor of Graphic Design and Communications.
We are also delighted to have Anna Alvarado, Superintendent of FSD145, as our awards presenter!
Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place as well as honorable mention in each age group are sponsored by Blick Art Supplies.
2020 Participating schools are: Freeport Middle School and High School; Stockton Middle School and High School; Carl Sandburg Middle School; Pearl City Elementary, Middle, and High School; Aquin Elementary, Middle, and Highschool; Blackhawk Elementary; Center Elementary; Lincoln-Douglas Elementary; Empire Elementary; Jones-Farrar International Baccalaureate Elementary; Taylor Park Elementary; and Jo Daviess Carroll CTE Academy.
