Highland library closed: due dates extended, no fines

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The Highland Community College Clarence Mitchell Library is closed while the campus is restricted to public access.

Highland Community College is restricting public access to campus from March 19 through May 10 to follow both the CDC mass gathering recommendation and Governor Pritzker’s “Stay at Home” Order during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The library closed, on March 19, after both The American Library Association and Illinois Library Association recommended closing libraries because, by design, the spaces are unable to practice social distancing to the degree recommended by the CDC.

The due date is extended for any materials borrowed before the closure. Fines will not accrue during the closure. Electronic resources for the Clarence Mitchell Library remain available at highland.edu/library. To schedule a Zoom web meeting with a librarian by email library@highland.edu.
