No Injuries Reported In March 16th Fire At 327 W Galena

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — City of Freeport Fire were dispatched to 327 W Galena on March 16, 2019 for a house filling up with smoke.

Upon arrival, smoke was observed coming from the roof of the residence. Police Officers verified everybody had exited the structure. Two residents were home at the time of the fire but were outside when Police arrived.

Fire crews made entry with a hoseline and found smoke coming from an outlet of a second-floor bedroom. Once the wall was opened, fire was found in the wall space and extinguished.

Overhaul was performed to check for further extension, none was found. Red Cross was requested for two residents and their pets.

No injuries to the residents or fire personnel occurred. Damage is estimated at $5,000. Fire investigation finds the likely cause was a wall mounted electric heater in the bedroom that malfunctioned.
