Video of Funnel Cloud Forming in Freeport, Illinois During Last Night’s Storm

Freeport, Illinois — August 17, 2017 — At 7:43 p.m. last evening the Cedarville Fire Protection District reported receiving a phone call of a possible funnel cloud spotted near Bolton Road southwest of Rt. 20.  At 7:47 p.m. the department said they did not have confirmation and that the alert was due to one 911 caller who reported seeing a funnel cloud.

Thanks to our viewers we have video of what people in the area witnessed. Blake and Wendy Klosa of Freeport caught this footage last evening of what the clouds in the sky looked like. They weren’t the only ones who saw it either.

One person said, “I saw it!! My kids and I were coming home on Van Brocklin towards Royal Oaks. Definite tornado! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!.” Another said, “We saw it from Lily Creek Rd, it was amazing”

As far as other reports of last night’s weather, Ryan Rockey stated that he had power lines come down at his house next to the Elks Lodge shortly after 7:50 pm. Another person said there are twisted trees all over on west Stephenson and west Lily Creek Roads.
