Walnut Acres To Hold Family Parade May 14 For Residents And You’re Invited

UPDATE May 12, 2020 – CANCELLED: “We have decided to postpone our family parade until a later date. At this time, we want to do everything we can to keep our residents, staff, and community safe from COVID-19. We hope to reschedule in the future.”

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — Some of the most affected citizens of the coronavirus pandemic are our elderly population and to show them some much needed love and appreciation Walnut Acres is holding a parade and you’re invited to be part of it.

On May 14th at 1:30pm a parade will be held for residents to celebrate National Nursing Home Week 2020. Walnut Acres is requesting that all family members who have loved ones at their facility, call ahead so they can make sure your family member is outside for the parade.

If you decide to be part of the parade, you will drive your car through the parking lot, and your loved one will be outside to wave as you pass through. This will give families who have been apart, the chance to see one another again.

Those interested must call Karen or Marissa at 815-235-6173 by Monday, May 11th to guarantee your spot.

Why at 1:30? The people who are supporting the residents of Walnut Acres probably have to work. They aren’t going to make it at 1:30. Maybe look at other times.
