Freeport, Illinois — Hosted by Wheaton Swim Club at the Village of Pleasant Prairie Rec Plex in Wisconsin, Freeport’s Aquatic Swim Team (FAST) competitors Myah Mathews and Jada Veer hope to come away with some victories today, tomorrow and this Sunday.
The two will compete for the next three days at the 2018 Illinois Winter Swim Championship held in Pleasant Prairie.
FAST says Myah Mathews, age 11, has been swimming for 3 years competitive while Jada Veer, age 10, has been swimming for 3.5 years. They say Jada is hoping to bring home a team record for her age group tomorrow. Myah holds several records on the team currently.
FAST says both girls are extremely talented in the Butterfly stroke.
News from today so far is that Myah finished 26th this morning in the 100 Butterfly event while Jada was just set to start swimming for the 200 IM event and 500 Freestyle at the time of this report. Katie Unger told us “the team has watched these girls work immensely hard with 5 night a week practices year round almost, and have fully supported them since day one”.
Unger says FAST will be holding tryouts for the team on April 18th. There is also a bowling fundraiser coming up, the details of which you can find below.
Here is some video footage of the event today.
You can also watch LIVE broadcasts as they air at their scheduled times below.
On April 7th, 2018 FAST will be hosting a Bowling Party Fundraiser
This event is not just for FAST parents and you are encouraged to invite your family and friends to come out for a night of bowling.
During the bowling party FAST is having a silent auction to raise money. They are asking for a donation of gift cards, gift baskets, or items to contribute to make gift baskets. Please make your donations by March 30th, 2018.
If you would like to purchase a ticket to bowl for the fundraiser, please buy them in advance. FAST says that way it is easier to get groups that want to bowl together on the same lanes.
Tickets are $35.00 for 2 bowlers. Tickets will also be available at the door. Check-in is 8:30 p.m. bowling starts at 9:00 p.m.
If you have any questions, or if you would like to donate or purchase tickets to bowl, please contact Melisa Forth call or text 815-238-6157 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
