Bush Takes Hayward To Win Democrat Nominee For Freeport Mayor

LIfelong Freeport resident Ronnie Bush took Walter Hayward to win the Democrat nominee for Freeport Mayor on Tuesday. Bush now faces Incumbent Republican Mayor Jodi Miller in the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2021.

Bush is a 1971 graduate of Freeport High School, and former decade long City Council member. WREX states Bush served 26 years on the council, and the Journal Standard states 22 years. In November Bush was re-elected to a second term on the County Board. If elected Mayor, Bush would vacate his seat.

The unofficial results show Bush received 512 votes to Hayward’s 180. A total of 17,217 people were registered to vote in the primary election. Of those registered, the clerk’s office counted 704 ballots.

Miller is seeking her second term as Mayor.
