FREEPORT—Republican candidate for the 89th Illinois House seat Andrew Chesney proudly announced today that Stephenson County State’s Attorney Carl Larson and Lena Village President Dennis Bergman will serve as his campaign committee chairman and treasurer respectively.
Larson, who won election as Stephenson County State’s Attorney in 2016, has been a prosecutor in the State’s Attorney’s office since 2005 and is a former Chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Party. “It is truly an honor to have the support and help of my good friend Carl Larson,” said Chesney. “He is a man of high integrity and a public servant worthy of much respect. As we look to make our communities in northwest Illinois safer and stronger, it is partnerships and relationships with our law enforcement agencies and our prosecutors that will make all the difference in the world.”
Bergman is serving out his fourth term as village president of Lena and has played a pivotal role in the economic development that has occurred in the community over the last ten years.
“Lena is a community on the move in northwest Illinois and has shown that small towns have a lot to offer to its citizens and visitors throughout the Midwest,” said Chesney. “Denny Bergman has been a leader that has brought positive change to his community and I am proud and honored to have his support and to have him on my team.”
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivens (R-Dixon).
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.
The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
