Freeport, Illinois — Andrew Chesney candidate for State Representative in the 89th District, has received the distinguished “Activator” endorsement from the Illinois Farm Bureau. The Farm Bureau has county organizations throughout Illinois and the IFB Activator has participated in many elections supporting candidates who they feel are knowledgeable about agricultural issues and attuned to the needs of the farm community.
The mission of the IFB Activator is: “To promote the economic and social well-being of farmers, rural families and agricultural related interests in Illinois. To promote financial involvement of farmers; to encourage good government in Illinois.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Illinois Farm Bureau Activator. I have read their mission statement and I am completely aligned with that mission and will always have that in mind if I am elected as State Representative and when I am presented with votes that will impact the IFB mission,” said Andrew Chesney.
A couple of months ago Chesney officially announced his Agriculture Advisory Committee led by committee chairman Lou Lamoreux who is past President of the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Since the official kick-off, Chesney has met with this committee several times and has reached out to farmers throughout the district to hear their concerns.
“I am impressed with Andrew Chesney’s understanding of agriculture issues and his willingness to spend the time and hear the concerns that we have. In recognizing that there are fewer and fewer legislators in the Illinois General Assembly with direct knowledge of agriculture, we need representatives who are willing to represent our industry and articulate our issues,” said Keith Poole, Ogle County Farm Bureau President.
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon). Chesney won the Republican nomination for 89th State Representative District in the March 20, 2018 Primary election.
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the City of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport and share their home with Nicholas who Andrew met through the Big Brother program.
The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
