Former Freeport Police Chief Don Parker Appointed To Serve As 4th Ward Alderman

Freeport, Illinois — Freeport Mayor Jodi Miller announces the appointment of Mr. Don Parker to the 4th Ward Alderman position that was recently vacated by Bob Smith, who resigned as he relocated out of the 4th Ward. Don Parker will serve in this position until the next election.

Pending Council approval, the City of Freeport will be swearing in Mr. Parker this Monday, August 6, 2018 at Freeport’s next council meeting. Mr. Parker plans on running in the spring election with the hopes of being elected to complete the term until the expiration in 2021.

Mr. Parker previously served in the Freeport Police Department from 1975 through 2005 as a patrol officer, detective, patrol lieutenant, and police chief. He previously served on the Stephenson County Board from 2006 through 2017 and on the City Liquor Commission from 2017 until resigning to take the 4th Ward Alderman position.
