FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The League of Women Voters of Freeport is hosting a public program courtesy of a group of concerned local citizens from the Environmental Study Group on Tuesday, November 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Freeport Public Library. The group’s advocacy for environmental best practices are expected to be of great interest to residents of northwest Illinois, including but not limited to their study of such issues as trash reduction and recycling, and efforts to reduce single use plastics.
The presenters for the evening, Kathy Eden, Sandy Feaver, Jan Kunkle, and Deborah Lischwe, will discuss the formation of the Environmental Study Group, its purpose, goals, plans, and accomplishments since its inception in 2017. They will summarize findings from their interviews with nine local organizations about environmental practices and present a recently developed brochure, “Got Trash?”
The presenters also promise to lead an audience discussion about reducing our carbon footprints. All voters and interested members of the public are invited.
