Longtime Legislative Aide, Sally Huggins, Retiring After 16 Years Of Service

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — State Representative Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) is thanking and congratulating the longtime legislative aide to Northwest Illinois constituents, Sally Huggins, upon her retirement. Huggins served constituents under three State Representatives over the past 16 years.

“Her dedication to assisting constituents is second to none,” said Rep. Andrew Chesney. “Our region owes a debt of gratitude to Sally for all she has done to advocate on behalf of the needs of Northwest Illinois residents as they have interacted with state agencies and services.”

Retired State Representative Jim Sacia echoed Chesney’s sentiments on Huggins, “I hired Sally Huggins to begin her work on behalf of Northwest Illinois taxpayers nearly two decades ago. She is top-notch and continued to be a great friend over my service in the Illinois House. Sally has seen it all and has never missed a beat in standing up for our region.”

“People do not call up legislative offices to tell them how happy they are with our state government in Illinois. Callers are usually frustrated to no end by the time they call our offices. Sally was always kind and clear in asking all the right questions to get the constituent the help they needed. Her diligence and follow-up is excellent and is a great benefit to all of the legislators for whom she has worked,” said Senator Brian Stewart (R-Freeport), who hired Huggins as his legislative aide after the retirement of Rep. Sacia and before he successfully won election to the State Senate in 2018.

Concurrent to Huggins’ service to constituents of the 89th Legislative District, she also has served as Village Clerk for the Village of Winnebago for the past 25 years.

Chesney is further introducing 89th District constituents to his new legislative aide, Stacy Flanagan. Flanagan recently retired as Administrator of the Driver’s Services Facility in Oregon, Illinois. She began working for Rep. Chesney on November 2nd and may be reached in his Freeport District Office at 815-232-0774.

“Stacy has big shoes to fill, but Sally has helped transition Stacy to ensure she will be starting out with a great footing,” said Chesney.
