FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — State Representative Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) was on hand to welcome students with the Highland Community College Agriculture Department as well as other community college agriculture departments to Springfield as they were in town attending the 2020 Illinois Farm Bureau Governmental Affairs Leadership Conference on Tuesday, February 18.
This one-day event highlighted Illinois Farm Bureau legislative priorities, provided insights from nationally recognized speakers and ended with a legislative reception with members of the Illinois General Assembly. The Highland Agriculture Department and other college students used the opportunity to also network with their local officials including a special legislative update in the Capitol from Rep. Chesney.
“These students are exceptional young leaders with bright futures, and I am honored to have hosted them for a legislative update and question/ answer in the State Capitol,” said Rep. Chesney. “They represented their families and communities well and made a great impression on my colleagues in the Illinois House as well as officials with the Farm Bureau. I was so impressed with their questions and knowledge of issues affecting agriculture.”
