Freeport, Illinois — We are always happy when Thanksgiving approaches because this festive occasion gives us the opportunity to appreciate and express our gratitude to all those we have worked with and to individuals that have provided a service, gift, or presence in making our lives better.
As I reflect on the many things for which I am thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share just a few of them with you. I am thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn – you give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. I am thankful for the support of the parents in creating a partnership for our students. I am thankful for all of the educators who really care about the Freeport students inside and outside of school, and who have the best interests of the students at heart. I am also thankful for our volunteers and outside agencies who enthusiastically contribute so much to our schools. The Freeport School District is fortunate to have a community that supports its future. Thank you!
On behalf of the Freeport School District, I would like to wish all of you a happy and relaxing Thanksgiving. Enjoy!
Thanksgiving, to be truly thanksgiving, is first thanks, then giving.
Dr. Mike Schiffman is the Superintendent of the Freeport School District.
