Emergency Preparedness And Response Drill Planned For September 22

Lena, Illinois — The Lena Fire Protection District and organizations from your community will participate in a training exercise taking place on September 22, 2018. The exercise is being conducted in order to test and improve your community’s overall preparedness and response capabilities in an emergency event. The fictional exercise simulates a hazardous materials fire at the Adkins Energy ethanol plant. Exercise participants will simulate fire suppression and emergency response operations. This incident is not real; however the response activities
during the fictional exercise will be practiced in a manner that is as realistic as possible. Local fire departments, emergency medical services, mutual aid, law enforcement, emergency management, and Adkins Energy officials will be participating.

The exercise will take place at the Adkins Energy facility and grounds. For your safety, and in order to complete the exercise in a realistic environment, the exercise area will not be open to the public. We ask for your patience and support if the exercise disrupts your daily routine. We thank all area residents for their support of this important exercise and for the support from our sponsors: Adkins Energy, Manito Transit, Rafters Restaurant & Catering, and Stephenson County Emergency Management Agency.
