Freeport, Illinois — Freeport Choral Society will present its Summer Pops Concert on Sunday August 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Krape Park in the beautiful outdoor Koenig Amphitheatre. In the event of rain or inability to use the park, the location will be changed to St. John United Church of Christ, 1010 S. Park Blvd., Freeport.
Jeffery DeLay of Freeport will conduct the society choir. Randy Cook provides keyboard accompaniment with Patty Weik on percussion, and Harvey Wilhelms on bass. The year 2018 marks the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, and a medley of his entitled “Take Care of This House” is featured with Hanna Caswell on ‘cello.
This summer’s concert has a wide variety of selections. An Irving Berlin medley, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” with Colin Ebbers on trumpet, and “I Will Always Love You” are part of the concert. There is no admission, but an offering will be taken. Walker Mortuary is assisting in the sponsorship of this venture with advertising and support at the concert.
