Freeport, Illinois – Just about every year as part of the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh celebration 15-25 planes find there way over the Freeport skies. This year on Friday, July 22 if you look upwards you may see between 18-25 planes flying over our city.
The planes will be stopping at the Freeport Albertus airport to practice a formation flying routine that they will be doing later that evening at the Rockford airport.
The Oshkosh EAA AirVenture is the world’s largest annual gathering of aviation enthusiasts. Some of the highlights of this years celebration are:
Pearl Harbor 75th commemoration, two night air shows, daily air shows featuring the Canadian Snowbirds, Desert Storm 25th anniversary, salute to veterans, WWI aviation celebration, Boeing 100th anniversary, WomenVenture, Young Eagles Day celebrating the 2 millionth flown, Coast Guard centennial, Martin Mars flying boat, 10,000 airplanes, 1,000 forums and workshops, and 800+ exhibitors.
