The Explosion That Took Down The Historic Sabula-Savanna Bridge

Savanna, Illinois — The Sabula-Savanna bridge was built in 1932 and is infamous for its narrow lanes and metal grid bridge deck. Today, Friday March 9th, 2018 the historic bridge is being taken down with explosives

The bridge is being replaced by a new $80.6 million bridge parallel to the old one.
