North Pole — At the North Pole, we all know Santa has many little helpers who help make the Christmas season special. Some who make toys, others who prepare the sleigh and the reindeer, while others help Mrs. Claus with all she has to do, with keeping it all in line. (I mean, we all know who’s really runs the North Pole and Christmas.)
What the North Pole press doesn’t tell you about though, are the secret little helpers whose sole job it is to check to see who has been naughty or nice.
One of those helpers is Elf on The Shelf.
Legend has it that the Elf on the Shelf is a secret agent for Santa, sent directly from the North Pole to report on who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. The Elf on the Shelf get their magic by being named and being loved by a child. Once the elf is named, the scout elf receives its special Christmas magic, which allows it to fly to and from the North Pole.
For most, the Elf on the Shelf is a proper holiday guest to have around this time of year. He doesn’t get in the way, he’s quiet, he’s a good influence on the children and for the most part, he’s a trustworthy new member of the family household.
But we’ve seen other pictures.
Pictures that show a slightly differently side to Santa’s little tattle tale that look to us as though Santa’s secret agent, may have a little bit of a naughty side himself.
While Elf on the Shelf is mainly here to encourage kids to behave well, some adults get their hands on Elf on the Shelf and before you know it, Santa’s wholesome fun at Christmas time helper turns into St. Nick’s little ten inch midnight party boy.
It’s tough to deny the hard evidence.
No doubt, Santa would be dismayed to see these shots of the Elf on the Shelf ‘Charlie Sheen style’. Put the kids to bed and see for yourself.
So we’re going to have an Elf on the Shelf photo contest. A naughty and nice Elf on the Shelf photo contest, but not too naughty.
Here’s how it works.
You take a photo with Elf on the Shelf. A cute photo, a secret hiding place, show us what your Elf on the Shelf is up to and if you catch him being naughty, you can send in those photos too, (just nothing illegal). After all, we don’t want to actually get Elf on the Shelf arrested simply because of a photo contest.
All you have to do is send in your photo to Today In The Port via a message, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ll air each person’s photo in a segment we’ll call “The Naughty or Nice Elf on the Shelf Photo Contest” and we’ll let all the public vote on the Elf on the Shelf Photo they think was the best, most creative, heartwarming or funny.
Deadline for photos, Sunday December 24, 2017 at midnight.
