Freeport, Illinois — Saturday, November 25, 2017 is Small Business Saturday all across the country and a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Small Business Saturday is an effort to support local places that make communities strong.

In 2010, American Express launched Small Business Saturday on the Saturday after Thanksgiving — hoping to help bring more holiday shopping to small businesses. In 2016, 112 million people come out to shop on Small Business Saturday1

Just one year after the launch, local officials across the nation take notice and promote the day. In 2011, the Senate unanimously passes a resolution in support of Small Business Saturday. By 2012, officials in all 50 states participate.

In just Illinois there are 1,200,000 small businesses in operation across the state which make up 99.60% of all the businesses. ² 

In 2014 just over 46% of all employees in Illinois were working for a small business that year.

In Freeport numerous businesses all across the city are participating in Small Business Saturday and they invite all of you to come out and visit their shops and stores.
