Stephenson County, Illinois — The National Weather Service has upgraded their previous Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Weather Advisory to include Stephenson county now. The forecast today for Freeport snow likely, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Great Lakes Region
An early spring snowstorm is impacting parts of eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois into this evening. The precipitation has mostly transitioned to snow, moderate to heavy at times. The transition will continue to move slowly south to around highway 34 by late afternoon. There will be a sharp gradient in snowfall amounts on the southern and northern edges of the swath of accumulating snow. Any shifts to the storm track the next several
hours will greatly affect the snowfall forecast. Widespread 4 to 10 inch snow amounts are expected in the warning area, with localized swaths of 10 to over 12 inches are possible.
In addition to what is expected to be a wet heavy snow, easterly winds are forecast to gust between 30 to 35 mph, creating significant visibility restrictions and shallow drifting when combined with the falling snow.
