FHS Agricultural Department Student Garden Starts Another Season

Freeport, Illinois — With the trend across the country where kids are typically not spending enough time outdoors as it is, teacher Monica Pierce heads up what we think is one of the best programs for students available at Freeport High School.

With the help of her students, each year Monica and her class take part in the Agriculture department’s Student Garden. Here are some highlights of the 2018 season.

Items grown here will be available for purchase by the community and there may be a few Garden Shares left available, if you’d like to snag one. Garden Shares are 6 boxes of fresh vegetables delivered to you over a 12 week period from June-September for a cost of $180. Email monica.pierce@highland.edu to check availability.
