Stephenson County, Illinois — 100 Women Who Care of Stephenson County presented donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Freeport & Stephenson County earlier last week.
The organization received a total donation of $12,800!
Boys & Girls Club of Freeport and Stephenson County is a community based organization that provide young people with a fun, safe and constructive after school environment.
Neighborhood-centered, BGC provide programming in specialized areas including character development, educational enhancement, career exploration, life skills, the arts as well as sports, recreation, and leisure. The club is open to all youth ages 6-18 and has a special focus on serving children and teens from challenging or disadvantaged circumstances.
During the school year the Club is open Monday through Friday from 4:00-8:00pm. Summer hours are from 12:00-7:00pm.
A yearly membership fee of $6 is required of all program participants; additional siblings pay $3. Membership fees are set low so that this does not become a barrier for participation. This fee allows youth access to the games room, computer lab, Teen Center and gymnasium during club hours to participate in a variety of classes, programs, and special events.
The donation from 100 Women Who Care-Stephenson County is expected to support academic enrichment programs with the purchase of books, curriculum, furniture and supplies for the reading and math intervention circles as well as the homework help center in the after school tutoring program.
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Club of Freeport & Stephenson County!
