UPDATE: Police Say Attempted Child Abduction In Cedarville Unfounded

UPDATE: March 21, 2018 9:03 a.m.. According to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office the department has determined that the allegations of an attempted child abduction were determined to be unfounded. The subject in the photo (removed from our article) has been identified and interviewed about the incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Stephenson County, Illinois — The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a male suspect who may have attempted to lure a 13 year old boy to come out to his truck, this past Sunday in Cedarville.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at approximately 9: 17 P.M., the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Cedarville Mobil at 10 S. Stephenson Street in Cedarville, Illinois in reference to a possible attempted child abduction.

Video obtained on Monday afternoon by the Sheriff’s Office shows the suspect is a white male, pictured above in the white sweat shirt. The suspect is alleged to have attempted to get a 13 year old boy to come out to his truck with him. Store employees stopped this from happening.

The suspect’s truck was a smaller white pickup truck with silver tool box in the back.

The Sheriff‘s Office is attempting to identify this subject so he can be questioned regarding this incident. The Sheriff’s Office has also been in contact with the FBI and the Illinois Secretary of State Police regarding the identification of this subject.
