City Announces Upcoming Traffic Control on South Float Street

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The City of Freeport is informing residents it has contracted with Fischer Excavating, Inc. to replace approximately 2,000’ of water and sanitary sewer main, between Galena Avenue and Adams Avenue.

As part of this project, water service lines that are made of lead will be replaced at no expense to the customer.

The project is expected to begin on Monday, September 16th and the expected completion date is November 15th.

During the project, small sections of street will be closed while work is taking place, and there may be times where there is only one lane of traffic. When construction is taking place in front of your residence, there may be short times when you may have limited access to your driveway.

The City of Freeport says they appreciate your patience while this project is taking place.
