Freeport, Illinois – If you own a business in town, or have tried to call one this afternoon, you may have been met with any number of different outcomes, other than the outcome of a working phone.
It appears earlier today Comcast suffered a nationwide phone service outage that affected businesses from S. Florida, to the Northeast & Pacific Northwest.
Comcast issued a statement earlier today stating, “an issue in our network prevented some of our small business customers from making and receiving phone calls. We’re working as quickly as possible to understand the root cause and get it resolved.”
Outages in Freeport were reported by Cimino’s Little Italy, Highland Community College, Twice as Nice and Cannova’s pizza as far as we heard. One Chicago business said that their calls to Comcast were met with a recording saying the number they had dialed was a non-working number.
While some customers are seeing recovery of their service Comcast says that they will continue to update customers until their engineering teams have resolved the issue for all impacted customers.
As of 6:30 PM EST Comcast stated they resolved the issue for a good portion of their affected customers, adding however, “we are still working to get this resolved as soon as possible for all customers. No other estimated time of resolutions now“.
Comcast did state that the service impacted SMB ( Small to Medium Business) voice only.
