Dakota Earns 2017 One of ‘Top 100 School Districts in Illinois’ Designation

Dakota, Illinois —  It’s a pretty big accomplishment when you make a top 100 list. When it comes to schools and education, it’s an even bigger deal. This past month our own Dakota School District #201 was recognized as one of top 100 school districts in Illinois in the “NICHE 2017 Best School Districts in Illinois” rankings.

The 2017 Best School Districts ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education, among others.

Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, public school district ratings, and more.

Dakota CUSD #201 was ranked 67th over 800 Illinois School Districts.

This isn’t the first time Dakota has received recognition either. Additional awards received by Dakota Schools have been:

  • 2015 and 2016 U.S. News and World Report Best Schools – bronze designation (Junior/Senior High School)
  • 2011 and 2012 ISBE Academic Excellence Award (Dakota Elementary)
  • 4-time IHSA state dual team wrestling champions
  • 8 Illinois State Scholars (2017)
  • 21 Prairie State Scholars (2017)
  • 3-time IHSA state football champions
  • IHSA state volleyball champions and runner up

Dakota CUSD #201 says they are extremely proud of the commitment that the staff, parents and community make in supporting its students and says they are pleased to be ranked among the best school districts in Illinois.

Congratulations Dakota School District #201 on this great accomplishment.
