Darrel Thompson to be sentenced in May for his role in the shooting death of William Hines

Freeport, Illinois — Darrel Thompson, the 22-year-old Freeport man arrested by the Freeport Police department in January of 2016 in regard to the shooting death of William Hines, has plead guilty to attempted murder. Thompson will be sentenced at a hearing set for May 16 at 01:30 in courtroom 4. Earl Fane and Bryan Ulmer were previously arrested for the same offense.

Fane, was sentenced to 33 years after pleading guilty to felony murder back in late 2016. Ulmer has a status hearing set in April of this year.

William Hines was shot in the stomach inside an apartment in the 700 block of East Crocker Street back in July of 2015. Bryan Ulmer was in custody in Cobb County, Georgia when U.S. Marshals found him.  Both Fane and Ulmer were arrested around the same time in 2015.
