Devin Marcum Arrested For The Murder of Kyle Tucker, Shaun Bradbury And Attempted Murder of Michael Steinhauser

UPDATE FEBRUARY 4, 2019 at 5:45 p.m.. — It appears Olivia Joy Marcum, the sister of Devin Marcum was arrested this afternoon. According to the Stephenson County Jail Inmate lookup, Marcum was booked at 3:41 p.m.. Charge appears to be aggravated battery. 720 ILCS 5.0/12-3.05-D-4.

STEPHENSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS — On February 03, 2019 at about 1:47am the Sheriff’s Office responded to the Cedar Inn in Cedarville for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival Deputies found that three people had been shot.

Emergency medical staff responded to the scene to render aid to the wounded. One of the three subjects that were shot was pronounced dead at the scene. The other 2 people were taken to Freeport Memorial Hospital, and one of them was transferred to Rockford Memorial Hospital. We were later notified that the person taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital had succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased person on scene was identified as Kyle Tucker age 35 of Freeport, and the second person who later died at Rockford Memorial Hospital was identified as Shaun Bradbury age 36 of Freeport. The third victim of the shooter was identified as Michael Steinhauser age 35 of Freeport.

A suspect in this case was developed quickly and the search began. The suspect was located in Freeport by the Freeport Police Department and was held for the Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm that matched the caliber of the shell casings at the scene. This suspect was then taken to the Stephenson County Public Safety Building and interviewed by Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

The suspect in this case is identified as Devin Marcum age 23 of Freeport. Devin Marcum has been charged with the murders of Kyle Tucker and Shaun Bradbury, and also the attempted murder of Michael Steinhauser. Devin Marcum is currently being housed at the Stephenson County Jail and bail has been set at $600,000.00.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Freeport Police, Freeport Fire, Leamon’s Ambulance, Cedarville Fire, the Stephenson County Coroner’s Office, the Lena Police Department, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation. The cooperation from the Freeport City Police Department was instrumental in the capture of Devin Marcum. This investigation is still ongoing.
