FREEPORT, IL – At the regular meeting of the Freeport School District Board of Education held April 17, 2018, it was announced that Dr. Edward Finch has decided to resign from his role as both the president and a member of the FSD Board of Education effective April 17, 2018. The district thanks Dr. Finch for his years of dedicated service on the board and his commitment to the staff and students of FSD145.

The board will move forward in an efficient manner to fill the vacancy created by Dr. Finch’s resignation and, according to school code, will have thirty days to do so. The individual selected will serve on the FSD Board of Education from the appointed date until the election in April 2019. Mrs. Janice Crutchfield has assumed the role of board president.

The vacancy is currently posted on the school district website at www.fsd145.org and has been sent to local media. Mrs. Crutchfield and Dr. Mike Schiffman, FSD Superintendent, will also reach out to the individuals that ran for the school board in the last election to see if they are interested in the position. Interviews will be conducted in a closed session meeting. The board will then nominate a candidate for the position by its meeting on May 15, 2018. It will be at that meeting that the individual will assume their role as a new school board member.

Those interested in being considered for the vacancy are asked to please send a letter of application and resume to Janice Crutchfield, President, Freeport School District, 501 E. South St., Freeport, IL 61032. Applications are due by 12:00 pm on April 26, 2018.
