Shots Fired, Houses Hit On Monday Residents Say

rite-way-spring comfort sale april 3 2017Freeport, Illinois — Residents in the area of Chippewa and Shawnee reported hearing gunshots on Monday in Freeport, Illinois.

Around 5:15 p.m. last night residents said they heard several gun shots in the area from what appeared to be another drive by shots fired event. Freeport Police arrived within minutes with at least four patrol cars, a witness told us.

A witness, who lives on Shawnee, said that Freeport Police closed off the intersection of Chippewa and Shawnee and were going door to door interviewing people to find out more information.

They said a couple of the houses reported being hit by bullets.

UPDATE: Another witness told us today that they saw two men walking down the same side of the street when an argument broke out between the two. At that point one person allegedly began firing upon the other.

We were also told that bullets went through one person’s home and through their television inside the home.
