Earl Fane of Freeport Enters Guilty Plea In Connection With Shooting Death of William Hines

Freeport, Illinois – The Freeport Police Department, in conjunction with the Stephenson County State’s Attorney’s office have announced that 24 year old Earl Fane of Freeport has entered a guilty plea in the Stephenson County Court house today. Earl Fane was charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of William Hines on July 30th, 2015. Bryan Ulmer and Darrell Thompson, both of Freeport are also defendants in this case. A sentencing hearing for Fane has been set for August 31, 2016.

Mayor Gitz stated that he hopes this helps bring closure to the Hines family and credits the Freeport Police Department and the Stephenson County States Attorney’s office for resolving this case so quickly.
