Freeport Fire Chief Scott Miller Honored During Special Flag Ceremony at Central Station

Freeport, Illinois — Freeport Fire Department Chief Scott Miller was honored today during a flag ceremony at Central Station. The special occasion, Chief Miller retired from the Freeport Fire Department today after a career that spanned 38 years in fire service.

Miller spent 28 years with the Elk Grove Village Fire Department prior to being appointed by then Mayor James Gitz to Fire Chief in Freeport.  Chief Miller was appointed in December of 2013.  Miller was also a paramedic for 33 years and earned many fire service certificates through the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Today the department came together to mark the occasion with a flag ceremony.

From all of us here and from those in the community, we thank you Chief Miller for your dedicated service not just to our community here, but your service to people in general.
