Freeze Warning For Northwestern Illinois

Freeport, Illinois — The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning in effect from Saturday, 7:00 PM CDT until Sunday, 10:00 AM CDT.  A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Bring plants indoors if possible. Cover sensitive plants or bring indoors for protection.

Northwest winds will continue to pull cold air southward over the area today and tonight. This will bring the Fall season`s first instance of below freezing temperatures to locations roughly west
of a line from Manchester to Williamsburg, Iowa to Memphis Missouri. Saturday night, all of eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois and northeast Missouri will have temperatures dropping into the
20’s, resulting in a hard freeze.

* Temperatures…In the mid 20s.

* Timing…After sunset Saturday, through mid morning Sunday.

* Impacts…Sensitive plants will be killed if not brought
indoors.
