Buffalo, New York — Fantastic news coming out of Buffalo, New York today as your Highland Cougar Men’s Bowling Team overcame a 47 pin deficit to become the 2018 NJCAA National Champions.
Jeff Johnson says Highland overcame a 47 pin deficit going into the last Baker game behind Ancilla College (Michigan) to win the NJCAA National Championship at Airport Lanes in Buffalo, New York.
Ancilla held on by 15 pins to earn National Runner-up ahead of defending National Champs, Iowa Central Community College.
Johnson says the team will begin travel back to Illinois shortly and should arrive back in Freeport mid-afternoon tomorrow. Details for the arrival of the team back to the Highland Campus in Freeport, IL are currently being worked on.
UPDATE: Word is out that your 2018 NJCAA Bowling National Champs will be coming home tomorrow, March 4, 2018.
The Stephenson County Sheriffs department will be escorting the Cougar bus from the county line and will be joined by Freeport Police/Fire at the city limits. After a quick “route” through town, your 2018 National Champs will land at home at The 4 Seasons. All are welcome to come out and congratulate the champs back to Freeport and share some of the stories of the historic weekend at NJCAA Nationals in Buffalo.
You are encouraged to invite all your friends, as this will be a great chance to get up close and personal with the title holders… your Highland Cougar Men’s Bowling team (& get a pic with our new piece of hardware).
Members of the team are Bryce Lawson (All-American), Jared Johnson, Gary Ramey, Larry Tripamer III, Trace Ermey, Evan Jaros, Bailey Luy, and Bryce Rives.
From runner ups to champion! What a crazy ride it’s been and I Couldn’t say I was never proud of this team at any point….
