Freeport, Illinois — Imagine being one of the players on the field during the very first night game ever at Wrigley Field. That historic moment on August 8th, 1988 when the Philadelphia Phillies took on the Chicago Cubs under the lights for the very first time.
You have a chance to portray one of those players during the 30th Anniversary celebration of that first lighted night of baseball at Wrigley, during an event being held at Freeport’s Little Cubs Field.
On Wednesday, August 8th, 2018 players will re-enact the game at 9 pm Little Cubs Field, the Wrigley Field replica at 1160 W. Empire, Freeport, IL. Little Cubs Field founder Denny Garkey says the only difference will be that “this game will not be rained out after 3 ½ innings, as was that game in 1988”.
“We will finish the game (weather permitting)”, Garkey adds.
If you are interested in being a replica player, email, text or call Denny Garkey, 815-685-9507 (cell), firstname.lastname@example.org. Garkey says that if you cannot play, please join us as a fan to watch the game.
