Freeport, Illinois — The names are getting bigger and the talent richer each year at the annual music event held in Freeport, Illinois known as Music on Chicago. Event planners have announced that the featured band playing during the upcoming July 2018 show will be none other than Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts.
While Miles himself may have a global legacy in his back pocket, don’t expect Miles and his Rusted Hearts to follow his dad’s (Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick) style or mimic on his checkerboard coattails. Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts have a sound and style totally unique unto themselves.
This coming July 6th you have a chance to see them perform LIVE at Music on Chicago in Downtown Freeport.
“There are millions of people writing, recording and releasing music in today’s world of immediate return. Learn three chords, turn on the computer and you have a worldwide release. There are very few, however, who are writing music that makes you immediately wish there was “more” – another song to make you turn up the volume , another nugget of melody or lyric that you can find some part of to make your own”, Ryan M. Stier noted of Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts.
“Miles’s songs provide that sense of yearning and ownership. You want to have another record, another song – you want to hit rewind … you want to know more about this world created in song by Mr. Nielsen. A captivating wordsmith, instrumentalist, and creator of hooks – rare indeed, but present in the person of Miles Nielsen.”
This year Music on Chicago will also feature the very popular regional band Killbourn on June 1, 2018 and the band Weird Science on August 3.
Gates open at 5:30 with music starting at 6 p.m. There is a $5 entry donation. Guests under 21 need accompanied by an adult. Children 5 and under are free.
