Nashville Recording Artist Corey Cox To Kick Off Lena Winterfest January 23, 2016

Freeport – It’s that time of year. Lena’s Wintefest starts January 23 at Coach’s Golf & Grill at 8:00 p.m.  From January 23 thru January 31 the Lena Area Special Event Runners (L.A.S.E.R.) hosts this special community event which kicks off with a performance by Nashville recording artist, Corey Cox.

During the event, the Inaugural King and Queen of Winterfest will be crowned. During the week of Winterfest, numerous businesses will be having specials. January 29 events include a Scavenger Hunt beginning at 7 pm at the Lena Brewing Company, 9416 W. Wagner Road and Tricycle Races at 9 pm at the Iron Horse Tap, 137 W. Railroad Street.

January 30 events include kids games at Lions Park, 609 N. Schuyler, from 10 am to Noon, a Volleyball Tournament from 9 am to 3 pm and the Winter War Games (bed races, tug-of-war, tricycle jousting) from Noon to 3 pm in “uptown” Lena.

A spaghetti supper hosted by the Lena Fire Department beginning at 6 pm will be held at the Lena Community Center, 497 Lions Drive. January 31 events include Family Day from 11 am to 3 pm at Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park, 8542 N. Lake Road and offers sledding and a 2.2 Run/Walk.

From 1 pm to 3 pm, there will be Snowmobile Rodeo/Races at the Rafters, 9426 W. Wagner Road.

The weekend will end with the burning of discarded Christmas trees.
