Freeport, Illinois – Not much can be worse for a family, friend or loved one. It’s gut wrenching to think someone you know passing in a vehicle accident.
Early this morning on Illinois Route 26, north of Scioto Mills Road, deputies responded to a call of a vehicle accident. When they came upon the scene they witnessed a vehicle on fire.
A head on collision at approximately 3:30 in the morning Thursday claimed the life of one Freeport person, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The drive of the other vehicle involved was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital.
The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office, Leamons Ambulance, Department of Transportation, Cedarville Fire, Lifeline Helicopter and Stephenson County Coroner all assisted.
