Pearl City Native Cory Oppold To Appear On Food Network TV Show Chopped

PEARL CITY, ILLINOIS – Pearl City native Cory Oppold is appearing on Food Network’s television show Chopped this coming May 14. The show will air on Food Network at 8pm.


The Brew & Chew in Pearl City, Illinois will be hosting a LIVE Viewing Party, with all Cory’s family and friends in Pearl City there to cheer him on.

Cory Oppold, the son of Steve Oppold and Marge Musser, grew up in Pearl City, IL. Raised on a dairy farm, exposure to wholesome food and a strong work ethic was a way of life for Chef Cory Oppold.

After graduating Pearl City High School with a fascination for art and math, he moved to Phoenix, AZ to pursue a career an architecture. But a year later, after experiencing his first fine dining restaurant, his career path obviously changed. He went to Scottsdale Culinary Institute and graduated with honors in 2002.



Cory’s training is based solely around fine dining, beginning his career in resorts, then eventually leading independent restaurants and even teaching at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.

In 2014 he became the executive chef at Atlas Bistro. There, he carries on a seasonal, ever-changing menu with a strong focus on vegetables.

Route No. 73 Brew & Chew is located at 201 E Main St. in Pearl City.
