Police Kill One, Two Others In Custody After Stockton, Illinois Shootout

UPDATE March 30, 2017, 3:39 p.m. The Stephenson County Coroner has released the name of the man killed during yesterday’s police shooting that happened in Stockton, Illinois. The Stephenson County Coroner said 41-year-old Troy Boyle of Pearl City was the person killed in the shootout that happened by Blackhawk Drive and Front Ave.

The Stephenson County Coroner’s office said Troy Boyle died as a result of a gunshot wound that happened during the altercation with Stockton Police.


Stockton, Illinois — A shootout today involving three individuals and the Stockton Police occurred shortly after lunch this afternoon.

Police arrived on the scene located by Blackhawk Drive and Front Ave. after receiving a call about a vehicle that seemed out of place and suspicious.

Upon arriving at the scene one of the men from the vehicle began shooting. The Police took cover and returned fire, ultimately killing the man at the scene. Two others are in custody.

The State Police is handling the case and several roads in the area are closed off at this time.

The Stockton Police, State Police and Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Police are all on the scene.

    The man living man is being held for something unrelated. The other survivor was released because these people were not hurting anybody! They didn’t have guns or open fire on police. They didn’t even have time to get their hands up. Police misread the situation and made a huge mistake. This was simply three homeless people getting out of thier vehicle and going for a walk before realizing they were surrounded by police.

    were you there ? don’t be so quick to blame the police made a mistake !!!!! would you defend yourself if someone was shooting at you !!!!! simply 3 homeless people taking a stroll ….. please . surrounded by police so 1 of them starts shooting ……. think about that .

      Very good point, Vangie. Your deduction makes good sense. A Burlington girl that used to frequent the Red Dog makes a solid deduction. How do I know that?
