Freeport, Illinois — The Housing Authority of the City of Freeport (HACF) is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Freeport and Stephenson County to provide the Teen REACH program.
The Boys & Girls Club of Freeport and Stephenson County in partnership with the Illinois Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs announced the re-launch of the Teen REACH afterschool and summer program funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
Statewide, 25 Boys & Girls Clubs in Illinois will serve nearly 3,000 at-risk youth at 53 sites operated by local Clubs, through a statewide grant recently awarded to the Illinois Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.
The local Teen REACH site will be the Westview Nancy Holtum Community Center at 1435 Westview Road in Freeport and it will operate from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm each day Monday through Friday.
The Teen REACH program will continue enrollment through December 9, 2016 and is scheduled to operate through June 30, 2017 and serves youth ages 11 and older.
The Teen REACH program has been proven to improve academic achievement and to build youth’s skills to resist risky behaviors including drugs and alcohol and improve conflict resolution skills.
The mission of the Illinois Department of Human Services Teen REACH program is to expand the range of choices and opportunities that enable, empower and encourage youth to achieve positive growth and development, improve expectations and capacities for future success, and avoid and/or reduce risk-taking behavior.
