Freeport, Illinois — An American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 1995 Gerald Allen McClellan is a two-time middleweight world champion, having held the WBO title from 1991 to 1992, and the WBC title from 1993 to 1995.
Gerald (G-Man) McClellan born in Freeport, Illinois is winner of both the WBO and WBC middle weight championship. His record as a professional boxer was 31 wins 3 losses with 29 wins by knock out (with 20 first-round knockouts). He is rated in Ring Magazine as one of the Greatest Punchers of All time.
Recently the Mayor of the City of Freeport, Jodi Miller drafted a Proclamation declaring February 19, 2018 as Gerald McClellan Day to honor Gerald for his outstanding achievements during his professional boxing career.
Gerald was trained by Hall of Fame Trainer Emanuel Steward. The Ring magazine rated McClellan at number 27 on their list of “100 Greatest Punchers. In 2007, McClellan was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. McClellan is regarded as one of the hardest hitters in the history of boxing.
